We often receive requests to add multiple spindle drilling operations to existing CNC machining centers.  A recent request was to add a separate drive capable of drilling as many holes as possible from a single machine command.  The process required drilling thousands of holes on a single automotive dash component.  AutoDrill supplied a Three Spindle Drill Head, driven by a single motor, to mount within the programmable machine.  The part cycle for the entire process was decreased by half with this multiple hole process.  The customer decided that three spindles was the best multi-spindle drilling arrangement based on the pattern requirements.  AutoDrill has provided multiple spindle drilling units with twelve or more spindles on a number of occasions.

This specific application used the customer's machine feed gantry in the Z axis for the feed of the multi-drill head and motor drive mechanism.  AutoDrill designed and supplied the multi-drill head directly mounted onto a three phase motor running at high speed.  The total cost was less than $2500.  The customer's requirement for a simple solution for a multi-drill head was accomplished with this compact package.
